# Instagram Viral Reels Finder: Spot Outliers in Any Niche

## Why "most views" is the wrong way to find viral Reels

Big accounts get big numbers on ordinary posts. If a creator with 4 million followers averages 600,000 views, a 700,000-view Reel is a normal Tuesday. If a creator with 15,000 followers averages 6,000 views and one Reel hits 90,000, that Reel is fifteen times their normal. Something in it travelled well beyond the existing audience, and that something is what you want to learn.

This idea has a name in creator tools: the **outlier**. Sort Feed describes its outlier score as "a post's views divided by that creator's own median views", and Sandcastles sells a database of "validated outliers". Search demand reflects the confusion. Ubersuggest (25 September 2026, global) shows 2,900 monthly searches for "instagram viral reels", 720 for "most viral reels on instagram" and 590 for "viral reels instagram", while the tool phrases ("instagram outlier finder", "viral reels finder") are still rare. Most people type "viral reels" and get hashtag lists. If you actually want to find viral ideas to learn from, you need an outlier finder.

## How to find viral Reels in your niche with IShort

1. **Make a list of 5 to 10 accounts** in your niche. Mix sizes: two big leaders, and several accounts close to your own size. Small accounts give the clearest outlier signals.

## Reading the signals: Viral Score vs "x avg"

## What to take from a viral Reel (without copying it)

Finding outliers is half the job. The other half is turning them into your own content without cloning someone else's work. For each outlier, write down five things:

1. **The hook.** Click Transcribe and read the first sentence. Is it a promise, a question, a bold claim, a "stop doing X"?
2. **The format.** Talking head, voiceover with B-roll, text on screen, skit, list, before and after.
3. **The length.** The Duration slide shows whether short or long Reels win on that account.
4. **The audio.** Original voice or licensed music. The same slide compares the two.
5. **The topic angle.** Not the topic itself, but the angle: myth-busting, mistake, secret, comparison, story.
