# See Anyone's Most Viewed Reels on Instagram (2026 Method)

Instagram's Most viewed sort on profiles is patchy or gone for many users. See any public account's most viewed Reels, ranked by real view counts, with the free IShort extension.

> **Short answer:** to see the most viewed Reels on any Instagram account, install the free [IShort extension](/sort-instagram-reels-by-views.html), open the account's Reels tab on instagram.com, let IShort collect the Reels, then choose **Sort: Views**. You get the whole Reels library ranked from most to least viewed, with the view count, likes, comments and an "x avg" badge showing how far each Reel beat that account's normal. It does not depend on Instagram's own "Most viewed" toggle, which many people no longer see.

This guide covers the full method.

## What happened to "Most viewed" on Instagram profiles

In November 2025 Instagram started rolling out a small menu on the Reels tab of profiles: touch and hold the Reels icon and you could switch between **Latest** and **Most viewed**. Tech site PiunikaWeb reported on 24 November 2025 that the rollout was gradual, that not everyone had the toggle, and that for some people the grid got stuck in view order and would not go back to Latest ([source](https://piunikaweb.com/2025/11/24/instagram-sort-by-views-stuck/)). A separate test put "Latest" and "Most Viewed" filters on the main Reels feed ([Social Samosa](https://www.socialsamosa.com/news-2/instagram-trials-sorting-options-reels-8971362)).

Since then the picture has been messy. By May 2026 people were posting that Instagram had removed the option to sort a person's Reels again, and Google's autocomplete now suggests searches such as "instagram sort reels by views gone" and "instagram reels sort by views removed". Instagram tests features on some accounts and pulls them from others, so whether you see the toggle today depends on your app version, your region and your account. It also only works in the mobile app, one profile at a time, and it never showed the numbers side by side or let you export them.

That is why "most viewed reels on instagram" is one of the biggest searches in this space. Ubersuggest measured it at 14,800 searches a month worldwide on 25 September 2026, plus 3,600 for "instagram most viewed reels". Most of those people want one of two things. Some want the Reels with the most views on the whole of Instagram. Many more want to see which Reels did best on one specific account, usually a competitor or a creator they admire. This page covers both, but IShort is built for the second job.

## How to see any account's most viewed Reels with IShort

1. **Install IShort** from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ljjhbiolkeopnaglmnepmlboldpohohl?utm_source=ishort.pro&utm_medium=cta&utm_campaign=chrome_install) (it also runs on Microsoft Edge). Sign in with Google in the side panel. No Instagram password is ever asked for.
2. **Open the profile on instagram.com** in your desktop browser and click its Reels tab, for example instagram.com/username/reels/.
3. **Let IShort collect the Reels.** Scroll, or use the side panel's collect button, so IShort reads every Reel Instagram loads for that profile. On a big account this takes a minute or two.
4. **Choose Sort: Views.** The list re-orders so the most viewed Reel sits at the top, with its view count, likes, comments and posting date.
5. **Read the "x avg" badges.** A Reel marked 4.2x got 4.2 times the account's average views. That tells you which hits were real breakouts and which were just a big account's normal day.
6. **Save what you found.** Export the ranked list to CSV, copy it into Google Sheets, download the top Reels as MP4, or click Transcribe to get the script of the winners.

Sort by **Views** and the most viewed Reel sits at the top, with an "x avg" badge showing how far it beat the account's normal.

## Sort options you get (and what each one tells you)

IShort has five sort options. We list them exactly because other tools, and some older pages, claim more than they ship.

| Sort | What it ranks by | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| **Views** | Raw play count Instagram shows for each Reel | You want the most viewed Reels, full stop |
| **Viral Score** | A 0-100 score: 35% like rate, 35% comment rate, 30% views compared with the account average | You want Reels that over-performed for their audience, not just big numbers |
| **Likes** | Like count | You care about approval more than reach |
| **Comments** | Comment count | You want the Reels that started conversations |
| **Date** | Newest first | You want the normal chronological grid back |

There is no sort by engagement rate or by duration. Engagement rate is shown on every Reel and in the CSV, so you can sort by it in a spreadsheet. The "x avg" outlier badge appears on cards and in the Reel detail view but is a badge, not a sort.

## Why views alone can mislead you

A creator with 3 million followers can put up 800,000 views on an ordinary Tuesday. A creator with 20,000 followers who hits 800,000 has found something that travels. Sorting by views finds the biggest Reels. It does not tell you which ideas broke out. For that, look at two things IShort puts next to the view count:

- **The "x avg" badge.** Views divided by that account's average views. IShort shows the badge from 1.5x upward and colours it stronger at 2x and 3x. A 5x Reel on a small account is a stronger signal than a 1.2x Reel on a huge one.
- **Viral Score.** It mixes reach with how people reacted. A Reel with lots of views but very few likes or comments often got pushed to the wrong audience. A high Viral Score means people watched and reacted.

A good routine: sort by Views to see the ceiling, then switch to Viral Score to find the ideas worth copying. We explain the maths in [the outlier score guide](/instagram-reels-outlier-score.html).

**Rank any account's Reels by views in one click** Free to install. Works on any profile you can already see on instagram.com. No business account, no API, no Instagram password.

## Other ways to find most viewed Reels (and their limits)

| Method | Works on other accounts? | Shows exact views side by side? | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram "Most viewed" toggle (app) | Yes, where you have it | No, grid only | Rolled out to some users only; many report it missing or stuck |
| Instagram Insights (your professional account) | No, own account only | Yes, content can be sorted by metric | Needs a professional account; cannot see anyone else |
| Scrolling the profile and reading view counts | Yes | One at a time | Slow; easy to miss old hits on big accounts |
| IShort extension | Yes, any profile you can view | Yes, ranked list plus CSV | Desktop Chrome or Edge only; free plan covers your first 500 Reels |

For your own account, Instagram's professional dashboard is still the source of truth for reach and non-follower numbers, which no outside tool can see. For everyone else's account, a ranked list of public view counts is the best you can get, and that is what IShort builds.

## The most viewed Reels on all of Instagram

If you searched for the most viewed Reels ever posted, here is the honest answer: Instagram does not publish a global chart, view counts keep changing, and lists you find online are usually copied from each other and quickly out of date. We are not going to print a "top 10" we cannot check.

What you can do is check the biggest accounts yourself. Open a large account such as a football club, a global musician or a famous creator in the browser, sort its Reels by views with IShort, and you will see its real all-time top Reels with today's numbers. Do the same for the leaders in your own niche and you get something more useful than a trivia list: the formats that pull the most views where you want to compete. Our creator lists by niche, such as [top Indian Reels creators](/top-indian-reels-creators-2026.html) and [top US comedy creators](/top-us-comedy-instagram-creators-2026.html), are a good place to start.

## What to do once you have the most viewed list

- **Copy the hook, not the video:** Click Transcribe on the top three Reels and read the first two lines. Most breakouts share an opening pattern you can reuse with your own topic.

- **Check length and audio:** The Duration and audio slides show whether short or long Reels, and original audio or licensed music, earned more views on that account.

- **Look for repeats:** If four of the top ten Reels are the same format, that is the account's engine. One lucky Reel is not a strategy.

- **Ask AI for the pattern:** Analyse with AI builds a prompt from the account's top posts and opens it in ChatGPT or Claude, so you get a written summary of what the winners share.

## Limits you should know about

- **Desktop only.** IShort is a browser extension for Chrome and Edge. It does not run inside the Instagram phone app.
- **It reads what Instagram shows you.** IShort ranks Reels Instagram loads in your own browser session. It works on posts you can already see and never gets around Instagram's privacy settings.
- **Public counts only.** You get views, likes, comments and, where Instagram shows them, saves and shares. Reach, watch time and follower-versus-non-follower splits are only in the owner's Insights.
- **Plan limits.** The free plan covers your first 500 Reels analysed. Hobby is $10 a month for 10,000 Reels, and Creator is $29 a month for unlimited. Downloads are free and unlimited on every plan.
- **Instagram only.** IShort does not sort TikTok, YouTube or Facebook.

## Who uses a most viewed Reels list

**Creators** use it before planning a month of content: find the ten most viewed Reels of five accounts in their niche, note the topics and hooks, and brief themselves from real results instead of guesses. **Social media managers** use it to show clients which competitor formats win, with a CSV they can drop into a report. **Brands vetting creators** use it to see whether a creator's best Reels are recent or from two years ago, which matters more than follower count.

Whatever your reason, the job is the same: rank every Reel, read the outliers, and act on the pattern. If you then want to go deeper into one account, the [full profile analysis](/analyze-competitor-instagram-reels.html) adds a posting-time heatmap, hashtag performance and best and worst performers.

**See the Reels that actually worked** Install IShort, open any profile's Reels tab and sort by Views. Free to start, with every feature on every plan.
